Samsung’s next foldable phones could be coming soon. The technology giant is holding its next eventThese are free rumours and . This assumes that it follows the previous release pattern that led Samsung to announce the Galaxy Z Flip 5G in summer 2020, and In August 2021.
Sales of foldable phones are on the rise, but they’re still not nearly as ubiquitous as standard phones. According to International Data Corporation, shipments of foldable smartphones increased by 264.3% in 2021 compared to 2020. But IDC estimates that only 7.1 million foldable phones were shipped in 2021, compared to 362.4 million phones shipped in the fourth quarter of last year.
Let’s take a look at the foldable phones that Samsung, Motorola and other companies are said to be producing.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
Samsung’s phone-tablet hybrid will reportedly be upgraded this year. The source also claims that Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 will power the device.. The Prolific may have a sleeker design thanks to a slimmer hinge due to leaks.
But what I would really like to see for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a cheaper price. The current version is priced at $1,800, making it one of the most expensive phones out there. But display analyst Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, is speculating Samsung’s new generation of foldable devices will get a price cut.

The new folding Samsung
But perhaps more interesting is the idea that Samsung could soon introduce an entirely new foldable phone. In a tweet that appears to have been deleted, Ice Universe previously said Samsung could debut a third foldable device this year. The young man also called Saying that Samsung’s sliding phone was planned for 2022, but has been pushed further.
If Samsung plans to introduce a new style of foldable device, it has a lot of ideas to choose from. The Korean tech giant was featuredAt CES 2022 in January, including phones with tri-folding screens and sliding displays. But Samsung hasn’t given any indication that it plans to introduce a new foldable device anytime soon, so we’ll have to assume its concepts are just ideas for now.
Motorola Razr 2022
It looks like Motorola is developing the iconic Razr Steve Hemmerstoffer (via ComareDial) and Evan Blass (published on 91Mobiles).. As noted by GSM Arena, in a series of posts on the Chinese social network Weibo, the company introduced a new version of the Razr flip phone with dual cameras, a larger bezel display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. Earlier rumors suggested that the next Razr might have a lower price, a new pill-shaped dual camera and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
In the end we liked itfor its sleek design and improved battery life. But CNET reviewer Patrick Holland noted that the phone’s $1,400 price tag at the time and other shortcomings, such as low-light camera performance, kept it from being as good as it could be. Hopefully, Motorola will put those concerns to rest if the rumored third-generation Razr turns out to be real.
Google Pixel Fold (or Pixel Notepad)
Google could be the next big tech company to jump into the foldable phone market. The company is reportedly working on a foldable Pixeland a lower price than the Galaxy Z Fold 3, according to 9to5Google. The leak also says the phone may be called the Pixel NotePad, but warns that its camera may be a step down from the Pixel 6.
Google has yet to say anything about its plans to release a foldable phone. We also didn’t see any hint of a foldable Pixel at Google I/O, the company’s annual developer conference that sometimes showcases new tech concepts. But given Google’s recent focus on hardware — it highlighted this at I/O— it’s no surprise to see the company experimenting with foldables.
If Google has a foldable phone, it’s unclear when it will be available. Korean news site The Elec reported that Google previously planned to announce the device in the fourth quarter of 2022, but the company delayed the launch.
TCL foldable phone
TCL canceled plans to releasePhone in 2021, but still not giving up. A Chinese electronics manufacturer was featured for phones with rollable and foldable screens earlier this year. One concept has a screen that can bend in and out, while another can fold and expand the size of its screen.
TCL has not said when it plans to release the foldable phone. TCL previously told CNET that if that happens, the company plans to keep the price at $700 or less. That price will be hard to come by, but hopefully it will encourage other phone makers to make their foldables just as affordable.
The foldable iPhone
Apple is one of the few major smartphone makers that hasn’t released a foldable phone, and it’s unclear if one ever will. But rumors of an iPhone with a bendable display have fueled speculation for years. If Apple is working on a foldable iPhone, it probably won’t release the device for a few more years. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman wrote in the 2021 Power On newsletter that a foldable iPhone is still two to three years away. Display supply chain analyst Young also said in February that Apple’s foldable iPhone will be delayed until 2025, according to 9to5Mac.
It might not be a bad idea to wait a few years to launch the first foldable device. According to IDC, foldable phones are expected to account for 1.8% of the total smartphone market by 2025, up from 0.5% in 2021. The market research firm also says that foldable devices will capture a third of the premium market for Android phones.
