Comeback: The British Soap Awards returned to ITV for the first time in two years after the 2020 and 2021 celebrations were canceled due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
In its place in 2020, ITV aired a 60-minute special entitled The British Soap Awards Celebrating 21 Years, narrated by longtime presenter Philip Schofield.
This year, host Philip Schofield, 60, welcomed the abundance of soap stars to London’s Hackney Empire, where they will compete for prizes in the 14 categories.
The awards are voted on by either a panel of expert judges or by the public, with fans being able to choose their favorite for Best British Soap, Best Leading Performer and Best Family category.

All the changes: In its place in 2020, ITV aired a special 60-minute title, The British Soap Awards Celebrates 21 Years, narrated by longtime presenter Philip Schofield.
Meanwhile, earlier this year it was reported that the British Soap Awards have chosen to ax men and women.
Instead of the best actor and actress, many favorite British soap stars will fight for the newly created Best Leading Performer award.
The move follows The Brits, which this year scrapped the gender classification, with Adele defeating Ed Sheeran as Artist of the Year.

Votes: Awards are voted on by a panel of expert judges or the public, with fans choosing their favorites for Best British Soap, Outstanding Lead Performer and Outstanding Family Category.
Past winners of the Best Actress award include Lucy Pargator (who plays Chas Dingle in Emerald), Lucy Fallon (who plays Bethany Plot in Coronation Street) and Charlotte Bellamy (who plays Laurel Thomas in Emerald).
It follows the award for Sexy Men and Women, voted by the public, removed in 2015.
Five big soaps – Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks – have been struggling to gain recognition for their work over the past year.
And after a stellar year of drama-filled story lines, the competition is set to be fierce.

He came back! This year, host Philip Schofield, 60, welcomed the abundance of soap stars in London’s Hackney Empire, where they will be fighting to win awards in the 14 categories.
Coronation Street has, of course, seen the apple attack on Franklin and Nina Lucas, hoping to scoop up the gongs for their painful hate story, eventually killing Apple.
Arriving in Emerald, serial killer Meena Jutla’s long reign of terror could lead Leeds-based soaps to one or two awards.
Speaking of serial killers, EastEnders watched the audience from their seats as the killer, Gray Atkins, continued to avoid arrest for his crime – until justice finally caught him.
When the Holyox saw the Summer Ranger (Ryanon Clements) set out to destroy Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward) for his role in his father’s death.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Rob Hollins (Chris Walker) and his wife Karen (John Pearson) was left in balance among doctors.
