If someone gives you a blank check and tells you to buy the best robot vacuum cleaner, it will get a robot vacuum. Roomba vacuum cleaners are extremely popular and this is my best Roomba choice. However, the iRobot Roomba S9 Plus has a great price tag: $ 1,100 (although sometimes a discount). For this amazing amount of money, this robot vacuum cleaner provides powerful suction and perfect dirt and dust removal. If money doesn’t bother you, it’s one of the best robot vacuum cleaners you can get.
On hardwood floors, this Roomba took an average of 93% of our test sand, which is the second highest amount in our test group. With 95% sand removal, the Neato Botvac D7 is still superior in this test. His performance on the carpets was disappointing. He ruled 36% on Azkhovlu carpets and 47% on medium pile carpets.
The Roomba S9 Plus also gained a low average dust and 28% sand collection, struggling a bit to clear sand from a low pile carpet. While not the worst result we’ve seen (this honor belongs to the Ecovacs Deebot 600 with 18%), it’s definitely close to the bottom.
However, the Roomba S9 Plus vacuum cleaner removed an average of 71% sand from our average pile carpet, which is the best result we have seen in this particular test. It also cleaned more dog hair, pet hair and allergens than other vacuums in this test group. The S9 Plus can navigate and map multiple rooms and floors, avoiding “non-storage areas” that you can define. The application also notifies you to start cleaning the room using Alexa or Google Assistant commands. You can also connect the S9 Plus to Wi-Fi in your home.
The robot also spent an average of 25 minutes in our test room. The best is Roomba S9 Plus’s CleanBase docking station. With a competitive price, robust performance and intelligent navigation, the Roborock S7 is our new favorite mid-range robot vacuum cleaner. It demonstrated approximately the same power to clean sand from wooden floors with Roomba S9 Plus (93%) and Neato D7 (95%) (92.8%).
However, unlike our previous mid-range robot vacuum cleaner, the Neato D7, the Roborock S7 was more efficient at extracting sand from both medium-pile (50.4%) and low-pile carpets (64.2%). The Neato D7 was 36% and 47% successful in these tests, respectively.
Roborock couldn’t match the Roomba S9 Plus’s effective ability to clean pet hair, but it worked better than most. The S7 completely stripped the hardwood floors of hair and left only a few splashes on the carpet.
Efficient navigation with multiple sensors and lasers is the S7’s powerful suit. On average, the vacuum cleaner covered the entire floor of our test room in just 16 minutes. This is exactly 9 minutes shorter than required for the Roomba S9 Plus (25 minutes).
Another feature that distinguishes this robotic broom broom is its advanced cleaning ability. Simply fill the tank of the machine with water, then add the incoming mop pad. The S7 will now wipe the floor on command.
He can even wipe and sweep the carpets during the same cleaning by raising and lowering the cleaning pad. To do this, first perform a mapping operation to find out where your carpets are. The robot uses sensors to confirm the presence of the carpet where it waits to find the vacuum cleaner.
You can’t expect enough cleaning power from a budget robot vacuum cleaner, but the Anker Eufy RoboVac 25C provides just that. Its ability to remove sand from hardwood floors (78.9%) was no less than that of the Roborock S7. The sand performance of Eufy RoboVac 25C on low pile (53.5%) and medium pile (52.2%) carpets was also decent.
This robot was not bad in the fight against pet hair. He pulled them all out of our hardwood test floor except for a handful. After vacuuming the low pile carpets, many small hairs remained. Medium pile carpets were the most difficult for Eufy. After the vacuum passed through this surface, more and larger piles of hair were left behind.
One area where anchor costs are reduced is RoboVac’s navigation system. The machine hits the floor like a slow-moving table tennis ball, changing direction when it encounters an object or obstacle. As a result, it took 91 minutes to complete the cleaning cycle in our test room.

Solid pet waste and robotic vacuum cleaners do not mix. If they do, the consequences are usually catastrophic. iRobot set out to solve this potential problem with the new Roomba J7 Plus. The software of this robot is designed to recognize and move away from solid animal waste on the ground.
Anecdotal laboratory tests confirmed J7’s ability to avoid waste. The robot smoothly cleared open areas within the limits of the test pen and never touched our solid animal waste faxes. We used three pieces of dog feces of different shapes to represent the offensive substance.
Another robot vacuum cleaner, the Jet Bot AI Plus, also has the ability to prevent pet waste. Unfortunately, the robot could not recognize one of our three consecutive stools. He would not touch the element only for a short time. Often the machine would push a fake piece of feces from one end of our test pen to the other. This is a recipe for poopocalypse in the real world.
The Roomba J7 performed relatively well on hardwood and low-pile carpets, clearing 91.7% and 58.5% of test sand, respectively. However, the robot struggled to vacuum medium-pile carpets, drawing only 17% of the sand here.
Constantly paying attention to pet waste does not slow down the Roomba J7. The robot successfully covered our test room in just 17 minutes. The hair of the pets on the carpets was not a big problem for Roomba either. But there was a hair problem on the hard wood. This Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner put about half of the material on the ground during this test.
Like its more expensive sister Roomba S9 Plus, the J7 Plus can empty its own trash can. The robot’s CleanBase docking station both fills it and automatically cleans it of debris.
The diagram below shows the fine particle cleaning performance data for all the robot vacuum cleaners we tested. This should give you a fairly good idea of their cleaning performance on different types of floor surfaces, including hardwood floors, bare floors, and low-pile carpets. Our rice-based, medium-sized particle test did not show much difference between robotic cleaners, as they can all handle larger particles without problems.
